How to build a deck in Moxfield? ›

In order to create a deck, you need to login. Moxfield is free, so head over to Register if you need an account. Once you're logged in, you can create a new deck from anywhere on the site by clicking the + New Deck button on the top right. On smaller screens, the New Deck text is replaced by just the + sign.

Everything we make on Moxfield works on any device or screen size. We will also be releasing a native mobile app for Android and iOS. The app will mostly be a wrapper for the website, with some additional native capabilities like push notifications.

Ultimately, needing more lands actually still falls to your curve. Don't worry about bloating your land base if you're playing tiny spells. Keep it around 36 to 38 and you'll be fine. If your spells are big or you have a lot of expensive activated abilities, bump it up to 40 or so.

A Commander deck must contain exactly 100 cards, including the commander. If you're playing a companion, it must adhere to color identity and singleton rules. While it is not part of the deck, it is effectively a 101st card. With the exception of basic lands, no two cards in the deck may have the same English name.

There are two ways you can open the tagging view. You can drag and drop cards into tag sections in Visual Grid and Visual Stack view. This works for both Global and Local Tags. You can not remove tags in the bulk edit view, as that would mean you would remove tags if you remove a card in it.

Playing a card means announcing the spell and paying its mana cost. That takes lands. The basic rule of thumb is that you play 17-18 lands in a 40 card deck, and 24 lands in a 60 card deck. If you are playing more than a couple cards with mana costs of five or higher, increase the number of lands.

How Much Removal Should You Run in Total? I like to have at least 8-10 removal spells in my Commander decks as part of a 15- to 20-card interactive suite of cards. What's the difference between removal and interaction? Removal, well, removes your opponents' cards.
